More than a day in the field.
Carpenter Preserve’s rolling hills descend 150 feet from the highest point to the river. Open oak savannah, native cover and the river bottom, known locally as “the low ground,” give the land its character. Accomplished dogs, excellent equipment and gracious Southern hospitality complete the experience. Hunts are never rushed, groups remain small, and the welcome is always personal.

From the 1931 Mule barn, the preserve stretches across rolling hills to more than two miles of river frontage. Oak savannah, native cover and wooded riverbanks each have a place in the life of the preserve.

Hunt times, payment & cancellations
Quail hunts are available Fridays and Saturdays during the season. Rabbit hunts run Monday through Saturday in January and February. Half-day hunts start at 9 a.m. or 1 p.m.; full-day quail hunts start at 9 a.m.
Quail and shared rabbit packages are priced for two hunters in the booking portal. The private rabbit hunt is for one hunter.
Full payment is due at booking. Cancellations at least 30 days before your hunt receive a 50% refund. Cancellations under 30 days are nonrefundable. If the preserve cancels, choose a full refund or reschedule.
Deer hunts begin Monday through Friday at 2 p.m. and finish the following evening. Alternate lodging is available when the Dunlap House is booked.
